Patron Saint Fiestas of Sant Climent
20/08/2010 - 22/08/2010
Every year, the town of Sant Climent decks itself out to the full to celebrate its patron saint's day fiestas in honour of Sant Climent.
Menorca's fiestas boast a very special attraction that features ritual acts performed by traditional characters (Fabiolers and Caixers) and purebred Menorcan horses. In the evening of Saturday, the Fabioler, or flautist, sounds the replec, which calls together the riders who are to participate in the jaleo, when crowds swarm around riders adorned in traditional Menorcan garb demonstrating their skills and encourage the horses to rear up on their hind quarters. The rituals begin anew at 8:00 a.m. the following day and the jaleo starts at 12 noon. All these traditional acts are accompanied by a wide variety of musical, dance and folklore events, as well as elaborate fireworks displays.
